Mrs. Baker was born in Clayton, Okla., on Dec. 17, 1934, to Opal Marie Jackson and Herbert Joseph Hayslip.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Louise and Leavill.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Jimmie Ray Baker; daughter, Teresa Ann Cook; and sons, William Ray Lee, Jimmie Wayne Baker and Jerry Allen Clark Baker. Her extended family includes son-in-law, Mack Cook; daughters-in-law, Mary Goss Lee, LeeAnn Howland Baker and Amy Croxton Baker; grandchildren, Barry William Lee, William Wayne Holden Jr., Kristin Ann Lee Gaither, Charles Croxton Baker, Trevor Scott Baker, Haley Ann Baker and Karen Faith Baker; and great-grandchildren, Grace, Joshua, Emma, Ava, Grayson, Logan, Dane, Jenny and Kevin.
Mr. and Mrs. Baker met through their love of bowling when, one evening, he asked her to keep score for a game he and his buddies were playing. She also loved gardening, crocheting, painting, photography and many other creative pursuits, but nothing gave Meemaw more joy than spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her grandson the Rev. Steven Gaither, the senior pastor at Orange Grove Baptist Church, conducted her service at Briggs Baptist Church. Pallbearers were Jerry Baker, Wayne Baker, Barry Lee, Bill Holden, Charlie Baker and Trevor Baker. Mrs. Baker was buried in Dillingham Cemetery in Briggs.
The family wishes to extend its thanks to Brodie Ranch RHC, nurse Kelly Ramsey and the team at Standards Hospice for their compassionate care of Ruby and the family and also to the hospitality committee of Briggs Baptist Church for their graciousness to the family during and after the funeral.
