Nehemiah Holt, son of Nehemiah and Anna (Farnham) Holt; b. in Hampton, Ct., Nov. 28, 1756, d. in Chaplin, Ct., June 5, 1824, entered Rev. army at age of 19, sergeant, of Captain Thomas Dyer's Company 20th Regiment Continental Foot (4th Connecticut, Colonel John Durkee) in 1776-7, and 1st Sergeant, 7th August, 1780, of 5th Company in Colonel Hezekiah Wylly's Regiment Connecticut Volunteer Infantry, garrisoning New London Harbor. Engaged in battle of Long Island, was in retreat N. J., crossing the Delaware with Washington, engaged in battles of Trenton and Princeton.

(2), Mar. 30, 1858, Mrs. Martha Cotton, daughter of Eleazer Mather of Brooklyn, Conn. He studied medicine at Yale college, and after receiving his degree, settled in Pomfret, where he engaged in the practice of his profession. 3 ch.
