John G. Michaletz, 90, Algoma, passed away July 4, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born Aug. 14, 1922 in the Town of Pierce in Kewaunee County, the son of the late Frank and Bozina "Bessie" (Vania) Michaletz. John worked at the US Plywood which now became Algoma Hardwoods for 45 years.

John left his employment for three years to serve his country in the United States Army in World War II. He began his tour Jan. 8, 1943 and was in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Ardennes. He was honorably discharged Sept. 16, 1945.

He married Kathleen Gericke June 7, 1947. Lifelong member of St. Paul's Evangelical Church in Algoma. A member of the VFW and the civil defense.

He enjoyed the outdoors camping with his family. Numerous trips out west visiting both the US and Canadian Rockies and snowbird trips to Gulf Shores, AL in winter. He enjoyed tinkering in his workshop, restoring old furniture, mowing the lawn and blazing trails throughout the farm for his wife to enjoy the birds and nature on her walks.

John is survived by his wife Kathleen, son Kraig, Hampton, VA; daughter Kaleen (Thomas) Olson, Algoma; three grandchildren Kristin (Adam) Wonsowicz, Algoma; Jennifer (Zach) Burgess, Dyckesville; Brian (Amanda) Olson, Luxemburg; three great grandchildren Addisyn and Finn John Burgess; Carson Olson, and one more in about a month. one sister Lorraine Neuzil, sister-in-law Myra Michalitz, special niece Patty Seiler and godson Kevin Seiler.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers Edward, Frank, Norman and Ralph, seven sisters Anna Magle, Alice Laskowski, twin sisters Mildred Zuege and Melva Mura, Stella Kostichka, Ethel Brauer and infant sisters Margaret and Mary.

A very special thank you to Southern Care Hospice Jackie, Lora, Lacey and Amanda who provided exceptional care, love and support for John and his family so he could remain in the comfort of his home and with the ones he loved.

At the family's request there will only be a private service for John at the funeral home. Schinderle Funeral Home.
