CHILHOWIE, Va. Ira Lee Lowe Sr., 79, passed away Friday April 11, 2014, at the Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, Va. He was preceded in death by his parents Harrington and Josie Lowe and was also preceded in death by his first wife, Emma Louise Lowe; a son, Roy Lowe; a granddaughter; Tina Michelle Hancock; and several brothers and sisters. Mr. Lowe owned and operated Lowe's Garage Wrecker and Recovery Service for over 45 years serving Smyth County and surrounding area and was a member of the Parkers Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Francis Marion V.F.W. Post 4667. He will always be rembered as a good neighbor and friend. Survivors include his wife, Janice Louise Lowe; sons, Ira "Bubby" Lowe Jr. and wife, Connie, Ricky Ricketts and wife, Geneva, and Jeffery Lowe and wife, Dawn; daughters, Tammy Love and husband, Jackie, and Carolyn Wilson Ruth Copenhaver and husband, Christopher Pam Frye; step son, Chris Bunch and wife, Kayla; brothers and sisters, Archie Lowe and wife, Shirley, Marshall Lowe and wife, Darlene, Earl Lowe and wife, Kathy, Jean Cheney and husband, Clarence, Maxine Hamm and husband, Tommy, Lucille Teaster and husband, Glenn, Margaret Gilley and husband, Bob, and Fred Balthazar and wife, Theresa; several beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren, step grandchildren; nieces, nephews; and other loving family members. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday April 14, 2014, at the Parkers Chapel Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Owens, the Reverend Dennis Eller and Eddie Stamper officiating. Interment will follow at the McClure Cemetery with military honors being rendered by the Francis Marion V.F.W. Post 4667. The family will receive friends Sunday, April 13, 2014, from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Parkers Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.bradleysfh.com.
