Former Wayland Man Dies in Grand Rapids Yesterday

D Earl Stockdale, 73, of Grand Rapids, retired custodian of the Manager Rowe Hotel and Grand Rapids residents since 1917, died yesterday in Blodgett Memorial Hospital after a short illness.

Mr. Stockdale was born in Wayland. He worked at the hotel ftom 1931 to 1946 when he retired. He was a life member of James Fenton lodge, No. 224, F&AM of Wayland and DeWitt consistory in Grand Rapids.

Surving are a brother, John F of Grand Rapids, and three sisters, Mrs Thomas Morris and Mrs Roy Chapman of Kalamazoo, Mrs Fenn Chapman of Lancaster, California.

Funeral services were held at 2 pm Tuesday in the Eggebeen chapel. Burial was in Greenwood cemetery. Pallbearers were Mack Short, L P Reno, Naman Frank, Clifford Averill, Harold Weaver, and Rollo Mosher, all of Wayland.
