GLIDDEN — John R. Otto Jr, age 74, of Glidden, died Tuesday, November 29, 2005 at Mellen Manor Nursing Home in Mellen. He was born on June 5, 1931 in Mellen, the son of John Sr. and Margaret (Develski) Otto. On May 12, 1952 he married Marilyn McCloud in Glidden. John was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the United States Army. He worked in road construction, for the Mellen Veneer Mill for many years, and various other jobs. He was a member of the Glidden VFW post
He is survived by four children: Jeanette (Dave) Bay of Glidden, Joanne (Dave) Breitenfeld of Tomahawk, Jerry Otto of Glidden, John "Jellyroll" Otto III, also of Glidden; 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; three brothers: Sylvester Otto of Mellen, Dan (Dorothy) Otto of Mellen, and Alvin (Sandy) Otto of Ashland; a sister, Margaret "Tuti" (Bill) Dahl of Ashland; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marilyn, who died on Monday, his son James "J.O.", Otto, a brother, George Otto, and an infant sister, Catherine.
Funeral services for John and his wife Marilyn will be held on Saturday Dec. 3, at 10:30 a.m. from the Most Precious Blood Catholic Church in Glidden. Father Jozef Barszcz will officiate.
A visitation will be held for the couple at the church on Friday Dec. 2, from 4-8 p.m. with a Parish Prayer vigil at 7 p.m.
Interment will take place at the Most Precious Blood Cemetery in Glidden.
