Loretta was the daughter of Stephen & Margaret (Shumway) Lyon and wife of Milton Ackley. Spring Hill Cemetery Association records give her dates as died 9 April 1932 aged 83 years, 9 months, 15 days. She died in Brooklyn, NY.
Milton and Loretta had one child, Creswell Ackley.

"Loretta Lyon was born at Spring Hill, June 24, 1848, the daughter of Stephen and Margaret Shumway Lyon. Her parents settled on part of the original Shumway warrant, in the first frame house that was built on Spring Hill. Theirs was rather an unusual family, for within the space of three years five children were born into that home, a daughter, Nancy, twin daughters, Loretta and Lusetta, and a son and daughter, twins, Adelia and Adin. Nancy died in young womanhood but all the others lived well past three score and ten years.

In 1870 there was a rather unusual wedding in the Lyon home, when their parents celebrated the 25th anniversary of their marriage and Loretta became the bride of Milton Ackley and her twin sister the bride of George Bolles. Their pastor, Rev. G. M. Chamberlain, officiated, assisted by Rev. J. B. Sumner.

Retta, as Loretta was commonly known, was converted at the age of twelve and through a long life served her Master faithfully and well. No sunnier spirit than hers ever came to bless this earth. Her sweet smile and cheery ways endeared her to all with whom she came in contact, and will live on for many years.

After the death of her husband and her son, Creswell, her only child, she lived for a few years with her nephew, Leo Bolles of West Auburn. Seven years ago she entered the M.E. Church home at Brooklyn, N. Y., which is connected with the church of which she and her husband were members for some fifteen years.

Loretta passed on Saturday morning, April 9. Relatives and friends from in and around New York gathered for services in the chapel of the home on Sunday afternoon. The body was then brought back to her old home by a niece, Ethel Lyon. Services were conducted by a cousin, Rev. Burton Lyon of Meshoppen.

A nephew, Leo Bolles and cousins, Thomas Lyon, Roy Blocher, Gerald Shumway, Earl browning and Norman Lyon carried the body to its last resting place in the Ackley cemetery.

Besides three nephews and four nieces, Mrs. Ackley is survived by her sister, Mrs. Adella Moody, who lives at the home of her daughter, Mrs. G. S. Atwood at Syracuse, N.Y." --obit (in part)
