A descendant of OUR long Allen line that includes Col. Richard and Edward Allen before him says...
In fact, a fellow Allen researcher submitted application to the Society of Mayflower Descendants and was denied because the SMD claimed that the John Allen that their research supports being connected to descendants of William White, Mayflower passenger, was married to first to Tabitha Lyon and second to Sarah Baldwin.

"Up until recently, I would have said we share the same line down through John Allen. My line goes through Thomas' brother Richard Allen b. 1840 in Baltimore, MD.
The purpose of my reply is that we have recently learned that Richard's & Thomas' father was not the John Allen that is decended from Edward/David. That John Allen married first Tabitha Lyon then later Sarah Baldwin. He and Tabitha had one child Daniel. That John Allen died in Morristown, NJ. in 1762.
Our focus now is to learn about who/where the John Allen came from that married Ann Rhodes and fathered Richard and Thomas."
