Ronald L. Miley Sr., 67, of Chambersburg, Pa., passed away on Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013, surrounded by his family in the Waynesboro Hospital.

Born in Chambersburg on Dec. 27, 1945, he was the son of the late David F. Sr. and Arabella Kyler Miley.

Ron attended Greencastle-Antrim School District.

He went on to receive his GED from the Army, where he served honorably from 1964 to 1971 with two tours in Vietnam.

He continued his service as a plumber at Letterkenny Army Depot, where he retired in 1995 after 29 years of service.

He continued working after retirement for the Chambersburg Area School District retiring in 2010.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

His hobbies included cooking, keeping a well-manicured lawn, helping neighbors, and caring for his four-legged friend "Bentley."

Surviving is his wife of 27 years, Helen Miley, whom he married on July 17, 1986; four children, Archie Lee Miley of Fayetteville, Pa., Christy Suzanne Johnson (Steve Myers) of Dillsburg, Pa., Heather Marie Reath (Kevin) of Fayetteville, Pa., and Ronald Lee Miley Jr. of Chambersburg, Pa.; five grandchildren, Curtis, Corrin, Cameron, Karter, and Cassidy; two
great-grandchildren, Caylee and Mason; and several siblings.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several siblings.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, at 10 a.m. in the Mount Pleasant United Brethren Church, 2509 Black Gap Road, Chambersburg, Pa., where Rev. Christopher Little will officiate.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, Pa.; and one hour prior to the service in the church on Thursday.

Interment with Military Honors provided by members of the Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599 Honor Guard will follow the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society, 384 Floral Ave., Chambersburg, Pa. 17202.
