Obituary
Northwest Iowa Review, May 3, 2013
SANBORN-Ann (Anna) Post, 91, Sanborn, died Thursday, May 2, 2013, at Sanford Sheldon Medical Center.
Services were Monday, May 6, at First Reformed Church in Sanborn. Arrangements were under the direction of Sanborn Funeral Home.
Ann (Anna) Post was born Sept. 8, 1921, to Aaltje (Boerema) and Marinus Van Den Berg on a farm in Nobles County, Minnesota. She later moved with her parents to a farm near Sheldon, Iowa, where she helped out with the day-to-day tasks.
Later she was employed in the former Good Samaritan Hospital in Sheldon for two years before moving to Seattle, Washington, where she worked at the Swedish Hospital and simultaneously and industriously completed the requirements for her practical nursing license. She returned to Sheldon and continued working at the Good Samaritan Hospital.
On Jan. 19, 1951, she was united in marriage to Harvey J. Post and moved to his farm one mile west and one-half mile north of Hartley, Iowa. To this union four children were born.
Ann helped on the farm and was employed as well at Prairie View Retirement Home for 13 years. She truly enjoyed her years on the farm before she and Harvey retired in 1993 to Sanborn, Iowa. She was a member of the First Reformed Church in Sanborn from 1951 to her death.
Ann loved playing the piano for her and her family's enjoyment. She took pleasure in crocheting and knitting various bed quilts and tablecloths. Reading was also a favorite pastime and writing along with it. She was simply a terrific letter writer - informative, entertaining and observant.
She is survived by a son, Curtis Craig Post of Storm Lake, Iowa, and three daughters: Dorole Deane and her husband Aaron King of Davenport, Iowa; Dione Dawn and her husband Dr. LeRoy Larson of Lakeland Shores, Minnesota; Natalie Joy and her husband Kevin Snyder of Isanti, Minnesota; and her twin grandsons Nicholas and Jordan King of Davenport, Iowa; as well as one sister, Grace Schmidt of Sheldon, Iowa.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Harvey, in March of 2011; three sisters and their husbands, Alice and Jack Riemersma of Sheldon; Gertie and Jack Koops of California; and Marian and James Hance of New York; and a brother-in-law, Elmer Schmidt of Sheldon.
Hers was a life of love and joy - received, yes, and most certainly given to all who knew her.
