Gayle Ponda, 62 of Union Mills, formerly of Chesterton, passed away Friday, April 11, 2014 at home. She was born February 26, 1952 in Guntersville, Alabama,to Frank James.(Bill) and Idell (Atchley) Gibson. She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Robert Ponda, Sr.; her sons: Robert Ponda, Jr., Vincent (Michelle) Ponda; and her daughter, Tracy Cady. Surviving also are her grandchildren: Robert Ponda III, Joey Ponda, Nicholas Ponda, Marguerite Ponda, Nathan and Matthew Cady, Elizabeth (Matt) Richter; and her brother, Mickey Gibson; many brother and sister-in-laws. Gayle has many wonderful nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. Preceding her in death are her parents; her sister, Ida Sue Westmoreland, Patty Stevens; and her brother, Billy Wayne Gibson. Gayle loved Jesus with her heart and soul. Among many things, she was a master gardener devoting a lot of time to her yard and garden. She enjoyed fishing, cooking, and loved watching her grandchildren play baseball. She was a loving wife and mother to her family; and a very proud Mamaw!! She was the Love of Life to all that knew her. She always made her children and grandchildrens Special day to them, Easter and Thanksgiving and Christmas was her Day to bring her family together. Gayle will never be forgotten but sadly missed and loved by all. God Bless you Gayle..
