Janet L. Strohmenger, age 81, passed away on April 8, 2014 at the Lighthouse of Sun Prairie surrounded by her family.
She was born on March 19, 1933 on the family farm in Fitchburg and was the daughter of Henry and Bernice Harry. She married Dean P. Strohmenger on September 2, 1953 in Sun Prairie. Janet graduated from Sun Prairie High School. She was a homemaker and loved gardening, spending time with her family, playing cards with friends and dancing.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years Dean; her children, Mary (Bill) Bartlett, Mark (Denise), Brian (Amy), Michael; 10 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; a sister Virginia Steward and a sister-in-law, Kathy Harry.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother Donald Harry; a sister Arlene Krinkey; 2 daughter-in-laws, Denise Strohmenger and Cindy Strohmenger.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 14, 2014 Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary, 227 Columbus Street in Sun Prairie with Monsignor Duane Moellenberndt presiding.
Private burial will be held at Sacred Hearts Cemetery on a later date. A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 13, 2014 at the Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus Street in Sun Prairie and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church on Monday. A Scripture Service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
