He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ronnie Goeken; eight brothers and one sister.
He retired in 1985 from Panhandle Eastern Pipeline Company, Tuscola. After his retirement he drove school buses for Gould Transportation for 18 1/2 years.
He served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during World War II in the Philippines.
