Nina K. Ford, 72, of Huntington Mills died early Friday morning, April 11, 2014, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre, surrounded by family and friends. She had been a patient there since March 26.

Born Dec. 6, 1941, in Ohio, she was a daughter of the late George and Margaret Kratky. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph H. Ford, on Sept. 15, 2013.

Nina had worked as a dietician at Bonham Nursing Center and Clearbrook Lodge. She had also worked for Erwine Health and Hospice.

She was a volunteer for the NCCCC of Benton. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, was an avid reader and was involved with the Quit-Net program. Nina had a wonderful sense of humor and razor-sharp wit. She meant so much to so many and she will be missed by all who knew her.

Surviving are her three children: Julie J. Parr of Benton; John T. Ford and his wife, Autumn, of Huntington Mills; Michael J. Ford and his wife, Claire, of Hershey; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters: Penny of Arizona; and Rachel of North Carolina.

Along with her husband, Ralph, she was preceded in death by a brother, George "Korky," and by her son-in-law, Tony Parr.

A visitation will be Thursday, April 17, 2014, from noon until 2 p.m. at the McMichael Funeral Home Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton (Route 487). Her memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. with James J. Meeker officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the NCCCC, P.O. Box 305, Benton, PA 17814.
