Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 14, 2014, at First Baptist Church of Bowie with Mike Henson officiating.
Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Bowie.

Violet was born September 19, 1919 in Hasty, Arkansas to Clearance and Myatte Hawley. She remembered coming to Texas as a small child with her family in a covered wagon. She attended school in Murray, Texas.
On November 27, 1937, she and Rube Stewart were married in Bridgeport, Texas. They enjoyed 52 years of life together until his death in 1989. Mrs. Stewart was a longtime resident of Olney, Texas before moving to Bowie in 1979. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Bowie and Grace Sunday School Class.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Rube Stewart; her parents; two grandsons, Johnny Stewart and Chris Darden; daughter-in-law, Carroll Stewart; also six brothers and four sisters.
Violet is survived by her daughter, Evelyn Haile and husband, Harold of Bowie; son, Leroy Stewart and wife, Ellen of Archer City; sister, Freddie Hemphill and husband, Tommy of Blossom; seven grandchildren ; twelve great-grandchildren; fourteen great, great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
