BIOGRAPHY

Wilson McAdoo, son of Paul and Queen McAdoo, was born around 1870 and first showed up in the census as head of a household in 1910. He was 36 at the time, married of 18 years to Betsie Taylor, 29 born in 1872. In this census, it shows that Wilson's father and mother were born in Tennessee and Virginia, respectively. Wilson is still listed as being born in Georgia. Wilson and Betsie had 9 children with 8 living at this time. In the household was Lucius, age 17, Leno, age 16, Annie L, age 13, Elwood, age 12, Minnie, age 9, Mathella, age 5, Magaline, age 4, and an 8 month old son not yet named. Wilson rented a farm working on his own account but did not read or write. His wife, Betsie, did not work but had the ability to read and write. His Lucas and Leno both worked on a farm and public work, respectively. All children had the ability to read and write English.

Wilson and Betsie McAdoo showed up in the 1920 census where they were 50 and 48, respectively. In the household was Martha, age 15, Maggie, age 13, Wilson Jr., age 11, Dora, age 10 and Betsie's mother Dinnale Taylor age 18. The spelling of Betsie's mother is questionable and hard to discern from the handwriting. Wilson remained as a worker and still had not learned how to read and write. The children had attended school and was able to read and write. The mother-in-law, Dinnale, was not able to read or write. Without an accurate name for the mother-in-law, it is difficult to trace the history on the Taylor family.

Wilson and Betsie McAdoo appear in the 1930 census where the spelling of the last name is McAdool. The records indicate that Wilson married at the age of 20 and his wife Betsie, now age 46, was married at the age of 13. At the age of 60, Wilson continued to farm and rent the land he was on. In the household, was son Lucius who was 35 and shown as being married at the age of 20, daughter Maggie Butler who was 22 and shown as being married at the age of 18 but is listed as widowed in the census, niece Mary Newman who was 15, and son Wilson who was age 21.
