She was born July 11, 1938, in Terrell, NC, and was the daughter of the late James and Margaret Lynch Bost. She was a devoted and faithful homemaker and worked as telephone operator with Southern Bell for a few years. She was a member of Dilworth United Methodist Church in Charlotte and enjoyed nature, especially wildlife, birds, gardening, and country living settings.
She is survived by her husband, Joe Dean Kirby, whom she married on February 9, 1958; two daughters, Joann K. (Todd) Ichihara of New Jersey and Rebecca Vanhoy of Winston-Salem; three sisters, Nancy (the late Elam A. "Bob") Myers of Winston-Salem, Julia (Larry) Geer of Charlotte and Doris (Dale) Compton of Arizona; and a brother, Edward (Sandy) Bost of Boone.
Funeral service celebrating Sarah's life will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, April 14, 2014, in the Westmoreland Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. Tommy Southern officiating. Burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens.
