1938 - 2014
Richard Prince, 75, died April 2, 2014. He was born August 3, 1938 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Charles and Dorothy Prince.
Richard practiced dentistry in Sacramento for 20 years and was the quintessential Renaissance man. He had an amazingly wide range of interests and hobbies that included: flying private airplanes, golfing, hunting, fishing, skiing, ham radio, jewelry making, stained glass and wood working.
Thirty years ago, he took a sabbatical from his dental practice and sailed to Mexico and then to the French Polynesian Islands. After two years at sea, he returned to the states and reestablished his dental practice in Glen Ellen until his retirement in 2013. His interests then turned to designing and creating wood turned art and was a member of the Wine Country Wood Turners. His greatest pleasure was enjoying his vast extended family and the serenity of the Napa Valley.
Richard is survived by his wife of 26 years, Julie Prince; children, Mardeen (Ed) Libby, Mari (Tony) Smith, Jim (Janet) Petray, Brian (Elizabeth) Patterson, Robin Patterson, Marcus Collar Patterson, Mark Prince; numerous grandchildren.
The family extends their sincere gratitude to the wonderful and caring staff at Queen of the Valley Hospital during his lengthy stay. Services will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Napa Valley, 414 South Jefferson, Napa, CA 94559.
