Ouida Lea Mitchell Cooley, 89, passed away Thursday, April 10, 2014 in a local care center.

Mrs. Cooley was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church in DeQuincy. Her life was fulfilled with working in her garden, cooking, where she made the best yeast rolls; she took pleasure in her walks, singing and she enjoyed sewing and quilting. When she wasn't doing these things, she was raising her grandchildren which were the light of her life. Every year without fail she would completely read her Bible.

Those left to cherish her memory are her two sons; two daughters; twenty grandchildren; thirty-one great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her late husband Leo. C. Cooley; her parents, Samuel and Annie Mitchell; two sons, Reginald Cooley and Noel Cooley; one daughter, Patricia Cooley; three brothers, Richard, Bill and Joe Mitchell; and three sisters, Lillian M. Smith, Ruth M. Sides and Eloise Mitchell.

Her funeral service will be on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 2:00p.m. at the First United Pentecostal Church in DeQuincy with Rev. Carlton Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Newlin Cemetery in Singer. Visitation will be Friday, April 11, 2014 beginning at 4:00p.m. untill 9:00p.m. at Hixson Snider Funeral Home Chapel and resume Saturday morning at the church from 9:30 until time of service.
