Services for Jerry Dean Whitley, 51, Athens are scheduled for 2:00 PM Thursday at First Assembly of God Church with Bro. Ken Jones and Bro. Brian Williams officiating.

Burial will follow in Red Hill Cemetery under the direction of Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home.

Mr. Whitley passed away Friday, April 4, 2014 in Athens.

He was born August 27, 1962 in Athens to the late Billy Joyce and Betty Jo Jolliff Whitley. Jerry had been a resident of Athens all his life. He graduated from Athens High School in 1980 and was employed by the Texas Department of Corrections 20 years. He attended First Assembly of God Church in Athens and previously attended Arp Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include his wife, three brothers, four sisters, numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be six in total.

There will be one honorary pallbearer.

Visitation for family and friends will be 6-8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
