Charles Junior Barker, 94 of Forest Hill, went home to heaven Tuesday April 8, 2014. He died suddenly and peacefully at his home at Forest Hill where he had lived since 1946.

Born March 10, 1920 at Eccles, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Jesse Earl and Fanny Campbell Barker.

Mr. Barker was a World War II veteran, having served in combat and also as Staff Sargent and Chief File Clerk in general headquarters. He saved his money while in the military to purchase the home and farm where he spent most of life as a wonderful, hardworking family man, father and husband of the late Betty Barker. He became a Christian early in his adult life and always was thrilled at the truth that we will "know each other" in heaven. He retired from Celanese in 1988 with 31 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Barker and also a brother, Jim Barker of Palm Bay, FL.

He is survived by three sons, Randy Barker and wife Teresa of Forest Hill, Steve Barker and wife Vicki of Forest Hill and Chuck Barker and wife Anne of Pence Springs. Two daughters, Susie Barker Williams of Bellepoint and Janet Barker Wood of Cobb, GA. Granddaughters, Beth Williams, Angie Ramsey & husband John, Crystal Mitchell and husband Chris, Sara Barker, Christi Kubecki and husband Brian and several others. Great grandchildren, "Little Preston", Lauren, Holly, Caleb and several others. One sister, "Sis" Larner Carey of Chigago, IL.

Dad and Mom have gone to heaven now and will be greatly missed until that Great Reunion Day.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening April 10, 2014 at Pivont Funeral Home in Hinton. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday morning April 11, 2014 at Pivont Funeral Chapel with Pastor Marvin Mills officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery at Forest Hill with full military honors.
