Services for Cody M. Risse-Wiederin, 10, of Rock Island, will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island.
Visitation is 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Milan, where a Christian wake service will be held at 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the family.
Cody died Saturday, Sept. 7, 2002, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.
Cody was born June 15, 1992, in Voorhees, N.J., son of David and Kimberly Gillespie Wiedering. He attended Longfellow Elementary School, Rock Island, where he was in fifth grade.
He participated in several Rock Island youth sports programs, including the soccer program and baseketball league. Cody loved to fish, camp, ride his bike and garden, but most of all he was a fan of Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Survivors include his parents; maternal grandparents, Franklin and Donna Roe and Kenneth and Judith Gillespie, all of Waterloo, Iowa; paternal grandparents, Marvin and Marcia Wiederin, Coal Valley; paternal grandfather, Jerry Hardy, Cedar Falls, Iowa; paternal great-grandmother, Marie Ramaekers, Carroll, Iowa; sisters, Erika Wiedering and Allison and Hannah Wiederin; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
