Son of DeWitt V. and Sallie Ann Carroll. Husband of Nell Lawson Carroll, who he married on June 24, 1923. He attended Guilford and N.C. State College, and volunteered for service in World War I, serving throughout as chief pharmacist mate in the medical corps of the U.S. Navy. After the war, he taught school for two years, and was connected with a King drug store for five years. He had been employed by Duke Power for 15 years at the time of his death. Besides his wife, he was survived by two daughters, Mary Jo and Jessie Carroll of King; his parents; five sisters, Mrs Hessie Barr, Mrs Ethel Slate, Mrs Mary Meadows and Mrs Delia Meadows, all of Mountain View, and Mrs Nell Raiford of Charlotte; four brothers, Cary Carroll of Mountain View, Dudley D. Carroll, dean at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; Hardy Carroll of Guilford College; and Curtis Carroll of Mt. Airy.
