2LT US Army; Velma M. Clark, 99, of Christian Avenue, Concord, NH, a longtime resident of New London, NH and Lincoln, Mass, died Sunday, March 9, 2014, at the Havenwood Nursing Home in Concord. She was born in Ft. Fairfield, Maine on January 18, 1915, the daughter of William and Mary (Clark) Hitchcock. Velma graduated from Ft. Fairfield High School and Lawrence Memorial School of Nursing in Medford, Massachusetts. She worked as a Registered Nurse in Waltham Hospital, Waltham, Massachusetts, then as Head Nurse of the Emergency Room and Outpatient Department for four years until 1945. She served as a 2nd Lt. in the Army Nurse Corps during World War II. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Vern Clark. She is survived by two sons, David Clark, and Matthew Clark and his wife, Dawn, of Newbury, NH; two daughters, Jean Riddle and her husband, David, of Sewickley, PA, and Susan Jensen and her husband, Dug, of Sitka, Alaska; four grandchildren, Glenn Riddle of Wexford, PA, Gordon Riddle of Allison Park, PA, Christian Jensen of Seattle, WA, and Isaiah Jensen of Sitka, Alaska; and three great grandchildren.
