Henry Charles Tufte

Henry Charles Tufte, 86, formerly of Polo, Ill., passed away peacefully Friday, Dec. 24, 2004, at his home in Cantonment, Fla., surrounded by his family.

Born March 6, 1918, in DeKalb, he was the son of Charles and Emily Tufte. He graduated from Maple Park High School and went on to attend Coyne Electrical. He served in the U.S. Army and then the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He was a retired electrician with IBEW 117 where at one point he did electrical work at the power plants. His primary hobbies were photography, woodworking and beekeeping.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Etta Mae (Rosene) Tufte; a brother-in-law, Ronald "Doc" Rank; five nieces, Lorie (Charles "Skeet") Rank-Schatti, Pamela Beydler, Suzanne (Jeff) Rank-Blackwell, Joni Schatti and Betsy Schatti; two nephews, William (Sonja) Schatti and Warren Anderson; a cousin, Raidar Tufte of Oslo, Norway; several great-nieces and -nephews; and an honorary niece, Sue Campbell.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 31, at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. Burial will be at Tampico Memorial Cemetery in Tampico. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, at the funeral home.
