ETTA MAE (ROSENE) TUFTE, 84 ROCK FALLS - Etta Mae (Rosene) Tufte, 84, passed away Friday, Oct. 26, 2007, at her home in Cantonment, Fla. She was born April 26, 1923, in Tampico to Leroy and Lillian (Johnson) Rosene. She married Henry C. Tufte on July 3, 1947.
Etta Mae was a graduate of Northern Illinois University. After teaching first grade in the Genoa-Kingston School District for more than 40 years, she retired in 1985. Etta Mae remained an active member in the Gamma Pi Sorority and was an ever-faithful supporter of her Tampico Alumni Association. Etta Mae enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family. She was most recently a member of the Lathram United Methodist Chapel, where she served as a Sunday school teacher and was devoted to the youth ministries.
She is survived by nieces Mrs. Charles (Lorelie) Schatti of Virginia Beach, Va., Pamela Beydler of Cantoment, Mrs. Jeff (Suzanne) Blackwell of Delafield, Wis., Joni Schatti of Independence, Mo., and Betsy Schatti of Gulf Breeze, Fla.; nephew, William (Sonja) Schatti of East Moline; brother-in-law, Ronald Rank of Sterling; four great-nieces; six great-nephews; and one great-great-niece and nephew. Etta Mae was a loving aunt, who will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Henry Tufte; and her five sisters. A celebration of Etta Mae's life will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, in McDonald Funeral Home; the Rev. Pamela Avery will officiate. Interment in Tampico Memorial Cemetery. Visitation also from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, in the funeral home.
