Orville J. "Buddy" Gibson, age 95, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away at 11:25 a.m. on Monday, April 7, 2014, at Cox Medical Center in Branson. He was born on February 24, 1919, in Aurora, Missouri, the son of the late Ben and Gladys (Gillham) Gibson. Orville was a 1938 graduate of Aurora High School and was a World War II Army veteran. He worked as a purchasing agent for Southwest Manufacturing, retiring in 1981. Orville was an active member of the First Baptist Church. He was a former deacon, Sunday school teacher and choir member. In his spare time, Orville enjoyed spending winter's in Texas, gardening, and fishing. He was proud of the fact that he had fished at every lake in the local area.

On February 12, 1939, he married Vesta Marie Jaqua, in Aurora, and she preceded him in death on February 13, 2008.

On October 25, 2008 he married Mary Coleman in Garrison, Missouri. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, Mary; one daughter, Karen Whitmire and her husband, Jerry; three grandchildren, Pam Whitmire, Kima Bekemeier, and David Whitmire; five great grandchildren, Andrea Manetzke, Sam and Joey Whitmire, Mikeala and Shea Bekemeier, all of Mt. Vernon; one brother, Harville Gibson and his wife, Carol; two sisters-in-laws, Jean Kirkland and her husband, Hugh, of Springfield and Beryl Jaqua, of Aurora, and a nephew, Larry Gibson and his wife, Doris, of Fordland, and a host of extended family and friends.

His daughter, Cheryl Lynn Gibson and a brother-in-law, Ed Jaqua, preceded him in death. A funeral service, under the direction of Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, in Mt. Vernon, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 10, 2014, at the First Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon. Burial will follow in the Maple Park Cemetery in Aurora. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m., prior to the service, in the church sanctuary. Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church, Endowment Fund, in care of the funeral home.
