Evelyn Marie Franklin, 75, a former Jacksonville resident, died Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at her home in Oceanside, CA. She was born Oct. 7, 1938, in Beecher City the daughter of Ivan and Erma Doty Black. She married James Merall Franklin on June 28, 1957, in Beecher City and he preceded her in death on Apr. 14, 1990.
She is survived by three sons and one daughter, Rodney (Tracy) Franklin of Snug Harbor, NC, Dennis (Lisa) Franklin of Jacksonville, Roxana (Jessica) Franklin of Oceanside, CA and Michael Franklin of Homewood, CA; four grandchildren, Justin, Rachel, Austin and Aspen Franklin; three sisters, Fern Weisner of Sun City, AZ, Faye (Francis) Maloney of Monticello and Doris (George) Keller of Momence; and one brother, Ivan Black Jr. of Beecher City.
Mrs. Franklin attended Lincoln Christian College, where she met her future husband, Merall. They were instrumental in the establishment of First Christian Church in Jacksonville. Evelyn owned Franklin Realty & Insurance for many years. She enjoyed her rose garden and working outside.
Private family burial services will be held at Green Pond Cemetery near Pearl.
Memorials are suggested to Lincoln Christian College. Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Jacksonville is in charge of arrangements.
