Judy Starek, nee Vick, 74, of Smithton, Ill., born Thursday, June 15, 1939, in Mounds, Ill., died Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville, Ill.

Judy formerly worked at WIBV in Belleville, Ill., as a sales representative and radio personality, she was known on the radio as Banana's Foster. She was also on TV with the Norm Greenburg Show. She was a member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church, past president and present chaplain for G.E.M. Ladies Auxiliary Unit of Post 937 American Legion in Smithton, N.R.A., Moose Lodge 1221 in Swansea, Ill., past member of Single Action Shooting Society, the health office for Village of Smithton and former member of Son's of the Confederate Veterans Lieutenant George E. Dixon Camp in 1961.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Berthel and Vida E., nee Peterson, Vick; stepfather, Henry Holton Jr.

Surviving are her husband, Joe Starek; children, Wayne (Kelly) Foster of Freeburg, Ill., Scott Foster of Fairview Heights, Ill., Randy (Tammy) Foster of Belleville, Ill., Kathy (friend Tony Durbin) Foster of Belleville, Ill., Joe (Jan) Starek of Smithton, Ill., and Chris (Janice) Starek of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; brothers, Dr. Larry B. Vick of Belleville, Ill., and Greg (Connie Port) Vick of Highland, Ill.; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.

Judy will be missed by all who know her. She was always trying to help people by putting others before herself. Judy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the St. Matthew United Methodist Church. Condolences may be expressed online at www.kurrusfh.com.

Visitation: Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2014, at St. Matthew United Methodist Church in Belleville, Ill., and there will be a G.E.M Ladies Auxiliary service at 6:45 p.m. at the church.

Funeral: Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2014, at St. Matthew United Methodist Church, with Rev. James Slone, Rev. Larry Patton officiating.
