David Wayne Dobson, age 67, peacefully crossed over to the Lord at 9:32 p.m. on Sunday, April 6, 2014 in Albuquerque, NM after a short but hard fought battle with brain cancer. David was surrounded by family and his loving wife, Lisa. David W. Dobson, the "Artful Dodger" was born January 28, 1947 in Decatur, IL, a son to Wayne and Mary Dobson, they preceded him in death. David married Lisa Tronset Dobson on May 15, 1980 in Milmine, IL, she survives. Also surviving are son, Seth D. Dobson and his wife, Kathleen Muldoon, grandchildren, Genevieve M. Dobson and Gideon S. Dobson, brother, Thomas E. Dobson; sisters, Mary Patricia (John) Marker, Marcia K. (Gary) Burns, sisters-in-law, Gloria M. (Steve) Cotton, LaVerne D. (William) Kershaw, nephews, Clayton Dobson, Wesley Dobson, Brett Marker, Danny (Angie) Marker, Ryan (Erin) Marker, William Kershaw; Nieces, Tiffany (Jeff) Dial, Marcy (Chris) Braden, Rebecca (Eden) Porter, Vanessa Dick, Shawna (Dustin) Adams, Kathleen (Taylor) Tuttle and parents-in-law, Floyd and Marcella Tronset. David was preceeded in death by his parents and nephew, Bartley Jay Marker. David served in the United States Marine Corps from 1966 until 1969, serving during the Vietnam War. David attended Parkland College in Champaign, IL. David enjoyed growing up on the family farm and then truck driving before he established his business, Dobson Automotive Inc., which he ran for over 15 years. After moving to New Mexico Dave worked in real estate and automotive sales. David retired in 2008 and became an avid golfer which he enjoyed very much with his many golfing buddies in New Mexico. Dave had a great love of family and the last few years were focused on spending time with his grandchildren, visiting them in Vermont and New Mexico as often as possible. Dave was a member of the VFW and a Mason. A Visitation will be held at 5:00 p.m. with Memorial Services following at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at Daniels Family Funeral Services, 4310 Sara Road SE, Rio Rancho, NM. Illinois Services will include a visitation from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 13, 2014, at Roux-Hinds Funeral Home in Bement, IL. A church service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 14, at First Presbyterian Church, 249 North Macon Street, Bement, IL. Burial will immediately follow at Cerro Gordo Township Cemetery, Cerro Gordo, IL. Memorials may be made to the Brendan B. McGinnis Congenital CMV Foundation at (www.cmvfoundation.org) In support of his beloved grandson, Gideon.
