BALLSTON LAKE - Judith Matthews, 78, of Phillips St., died suddenly on Monday, April 7, 2014 at the Ellis Hospital in Schenectady. She was born on October 25, 1935 in Albany and was the daughter of the late William F. and Carol E. (Strohmaier) Ehrcke. Mrs. Matthews was a graduate of Albany High School and later received her teaching degree. She was a housewife and homemaker who lovingly raised five children. Prior to child rearing she had worked as a primary elementary school teacher. Judy was a master gardener with a beautiful home garden. She also loved animals and especially enjoyed watching birds and the migration of Monarch butterflies. She was the loving wife of Donald E. Matthews. Interment will be at 1 p.m. in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
