SALIX — BAXTER– Brandon G., 25, Salix, died June 25, 2010, as the result of a motorcycle accident. Born May 6, 1985, in Johnstown, son of Ray and Christine (Horner) Baxter. Preceded in death by great-grandparents, Mary and Stanley McCloskey, and Vera Horner. Survived by great-grandfather, Charles V. Horner; grandparents, Galen and Carole Horner, Salix; and Wayne and Shirley Baxter, South Fork; parents; sister, Briannah, Salix; uncles, Mike Horner, married to Christina Santichen; Galen Baxter, married to Debbie Sweeney; and Rick Baxter; an aunt, Vickie, wife of David Gruss; cousins, Garrett and Ryan Horner; Christopher, Michael, Matthew, Rick, Heather, Jared, and Alisha Baxter; and Holly (Gruss) Deihl, Christina Gruss, Kelly (Gruss) Williamson and Ericka Gruss, and fiance, Travis Hull; and numerous other family members and friends. Brandon was a graduate of Forest Hills High School, Class of 2003. Before moving to Alaska, he sold cell phones at the mall as president and owner of Accent On Communications. He currently worked as a utility man at Plant 78 for Rosebud Mining Co. Brandon loved the outdoors, hunting, mountain biking, snowmobiling, riding quads and operating heavy equipment. He had recently moved back from Alaska, where he was a snowmobile racer for Team Arctic, competing in several races, including Iron Dog 2009 and 2010, I-500 and the USCC East Racing series in Minnesota and other states. He also had worked for an environmental company, Marsh Creek LLC. He helped coach Forest Hills Elementary wrestling team. Friends will be received from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home Inc., South Fork, where vigil for the deceased will be held at 8:30 p.m. Monday. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael Catholic Church, St. Michael, the Rev. Msgr. Michael A. Becker. Committal, St. Joseph Cemetery, Beaverdale.
