Mrs. Taylor was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was born in Natchitoches Parish near Goldonna and moved to Winn Parish as a child. She received her education at the Walker School located at the intersection of Highway 501 and the Yankee Springs Road. The school closed and she attended Calvin School and later received her high school education at Winnfield High School. She attended the Huey P. Long Vocational School and majored in Business Education. She was a bookkeeper for Homer Rowe Plumbing and Barney Kelly Electric for many years.
Her hobbies were crocheting and quilting. She enjoyed making gifts for her family and friends. Mrs. Taylor was the ideal farmers wife. She and Mr. Taylor raised chickens for Con Agra Poultry Co. and was honored by the company for over 50 years of service. She enjoyed gardening and perserving vegetables. She also enjoyed raising cattle and working on the farm.
She was a member of the Siloam Baptist Church and served as a Sunday School Teacher for many years. She enjoyed church and attended as long as she was able.
Friends may visit with the family from 5-8:00PM on Friday evening, April 11, 2014 at the Southern Funeral Home in Jonesboro. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, April 12 at the Siloam Baptist Church with Reverend Don Slack, Reverend Charles Hammons and Reverend Adam Stanfield officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Taylor is survived by one daughter, Shirley Taylor Tubbs and husband Ernest of Dodson; daughter-in-law, Eileen Taylor Modisette of Weston; grandchildren, Sonya Sawyer of Dodson, Carrie Taylor Goff and husband Kevin of Weston; great-grandchildren, Katherine and Emily Sawyer, Elizabeth and Andrew Goff; sister-in-law, Ruth Ables Moore. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Minnie Cox Moore; husband of 74 years Henry Jefferson "Jeffie" Taylor; son, Andrew Jack Taylor; granddaughter, Danielle Taylor Nardone; great-granddaughter, Alexander Grace Sawyer; siblings, Nolan Moore, W.O. Moore, Elvie Moore, Harvey Moore, Clora Moore Quick, Angie Moore Jones, Trudy Moore Shecton and Janie Moore Cockerham.
Serving as pallbearers will be nephews; Bobby Guin, Jimmy Joe Gates, Ray Pattie, Ronald Harper, Robert Leach and Jerry Dick. Honorary pallbearers will be Cecil Hall and Mike Tubbs.
