Mr. Norman's funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 7th, 2012 at Lawndale Baptist Church where he was a Charter member with Dr. Jere Patterson officiating. Burial will follow at Westminster Gardens Cemetery.

Marvin was born on September 26, 1928 to Roscoe Elwood and Martha White Norman in Tarboro, NC. The family moved to Durham, NC where Marvin graduated from Durham High School and attended Wake Forest at Wake Forest, NC. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. His chosen profession was in the insurance field. He instructed classes for Mutual of Omaha and Kemper Insurance before opening his own agency known as Secon Brokers.

Mr. Norman was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Elsie Jones and husband Randy, Katie Wynn and husband Lonnie, Dorothy Ferrell and husband George and his brother Donald Norman and wife Jessie.

Surviving is his wife of 58 years Jane Norman, daughter Debra Kay and husband Joseph; sons David Norman and wife Marsha and Donald Norman and wife Tamara; grandchildren Leigh Borum and husband Chris Jackson, Andrew Borum; Jennifer, David, Jr., and Matthew Norman; Amanda, Christopher and Nicholas Norman , Brendan Volz , great granddaughter Beatrice Norman.

The family will receive friends at the Hanes Lineberry N. Elm Street Chapel from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday and from 1-1:45 pm Thursday at the church.
