Charles H. Padgett Dies Here Sunday
Short Services to Be Held Tuesday Morning Here, Later at Hillsboro

Charles H. Padgett, well known and prominent farmer of the Hillsboro community, died Sunday at 7:50 p.m. at the home of his daughters, Mrs. Virginia Zeigler and Miss Lillian Padgett, 329 West Morgan Street where he has made his home for the past year.

Mr. Padgett was forced by ill health to retire from farming and has been bedfast for over a year. He came to Jacksonville in November of 1938. He was a former commissioner of Christian County.

Deceased was born in Staunton, Virginia, August 26, 1865, and came to Illinois about 1880, settling near Hillsboro. He was married to Rosa R. Oller in 1890, and she preceded him in death in 1919.

Mr. Padgett is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Zeigler and Miss Padgett of this city and a son Roy Padgett, and two grandchildren, Gary and Doris Padgett, of Chicago.

Short funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Williamson Funeral home here, in charge of the Rev. Morgan Williams. The remains will be taken to Hillsboro, where more extended services will be held at the Bass Funeral Home, at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. Interment will be in the mausoleum at the Hillsboro Cemetery.
