Bobby Joe (BJ) Pennington, 82, of Montcalm, passed away on Monday, April 7, 2014 at the Maples Nursing Home in Bluefield, four hours after his brother, William J. (Butch) Pennington.

Born on April 29, 1931 in McComas, WV, he was a son of the late Theodore Russell and Lola Eva Perkins Pennington. He had been a lifelong resident of Montcalm and was retired from N&W Railroad with 35 years of service. He was a veteran of US Marines and served during the Korean Conflict for two years and was a recipient of the Purple Heart.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Lucado.

Survivors include: Brothers: Harold (Bo) Pennington and wife Alice of Montcalm, WV, Richard Pennington and Carolyn Roseberry of Montcalm, WV. Sisters: Frances Plymale of Paris, KY, Betty Candler and husband Howard of Bluefield, WV, Shirley Sarver of Blacksburg, VA, Janie Havens of Bluefield, WV, Vicky French of Bluefield, VA ; Several nieces and nephews.

Joint funeral services for BJ and Butch will be conducted on Friday, April 11, 2014 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Ryan Lawrence, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, WV where Mark Hudgins, Josh Pennington, Scotty Havens, Robert "Smokey" Havens, Jr., Tom Sarver, Jim Sarver, and Bucky Lucado will serve as pallbearers. Jeff Havens and Sandy Lucado will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Friends may call on Thursday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Compassus, 1330 Mercer Street, Princeton, WV 24740.
