MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. - Margaret Giles, 99, died in Minneapolis Dec. 8, 2005.
She was born on the farm in St. Vincent, Feb. 13, 1906. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Arthur Giles who was pastoring the Orleans Presbyterian Church when they met. She was also preceded in death by her Swedish immigrant parents, Anders and Anna Anderson of St. Vincent and her five brothers, Andrew, Peter, John, Martin and Swan and her sister Brita Anderson Ward. Her daughter, Ethel Westerlund Ries, also preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter, Lois Giles Swenson, St. Paul; sons Rev. David Giles, Columbia, SC, and John Giles, Sacramento, Calif.; 15 grandchildren and many great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
She was a ‘people’ person, a gifted hostess and a great support to her husband in his ministry most of the years which were in Mora and Duluth.
Her funeral was conducted at the Hughes Funeral Home in Hallock, Dec. 13, 2005.
Her burial is in the family plot at Joe River cemetery, St. Vincent.
