Ralph R. Rayls, 53, Kokomo, passed away at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, December 20, 2005 at St. Joseph Hospital, Kokomo.
He was born on Oct. 28, 1952 in Kokomo to Ralph H. and Frances L. Williams Rayls. He married Pamela M. Bradley Rayls on July 17, 1981 and she preceded him in death on Aug. 14, 1998. He then married J. Marie Shelton-Rayls on June 3, 2000, and she survives.
Rayls had worked for Syndicate Sales, Kokomo, and was a member of the First General Baptist Church, Kokomo and the Eagles Lodge #255, Kokomo. He graduated from Maconaquah High School in 1970 and was in the Unites States Air Force from 1971 to 1977.
Rayls was an avid Indianapolis Colts fan and enjoyed spending time with his family and his dog, Uno.
Survivors other than his wife include three sons, Jarrod Rayls and wife Reshawn, Kokomo, Ralph “Rocky” R. Rayls, II, Kokomo, and Ben Rayls and companion Rachel Karns, Kokomo; two daughters, Beth An Rayls-Covey and husband Andrew, Kokomo, and Amanda Rayls, Kokomo; a step-son, Ryan Downs and wife Brandy, Kokomo; a step-daughter, Tiffany Perisho, Kokomo; grandchildren Kynzie and Tyler Rayls, Pammy Covey, Mea Rayls, Kaelyn and Lily Perisho and Brayden Ray; one brother, Tom Rayls and wife Debbie, Burlington; five sisters, Theresa Mohler, Kokomo, Sharon Loshnowksy and husband Mardie, Peru; Carolyn Maxwell and husband Lowell, Wabash; Judy Daugherty and husband Kevin, Peru; and Joni and Jim Davenport, Peru; a special aunt, Dorothy Mendenhall, Russiaville; and a special cousin, Carla Mendenhall, Kokomo; father-in-law Sherman Shelton, Kokomo; mother-in-law Catherine Torrez, Greentown; former mother-and-father-in-law Booster and Lou Bradley, Kokomo; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Ellers Mortuary Main Street Chapel, 725 W. Main St., Kokomo with Pastor Brad Swain officiating.
Burial will follow at Albright Cemetery, Kokomo.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
