Mrs Joye Colleen Carpenter 86 of Kinta passed away Friday, June 24, 2016 at her home. She was born August 17, 1929 in Kinta to Jack and Margie (Cummings) Bryant. She grew up at Kinta where she graduated in 1947. Colleen received her Bachelor’s Degree from Northeastern University in 1950, her Master’s Degree from East Central in Ada. She was an Elementary School Teacher for thirty-three and a half years. She taught at Lequire, Briartown, Whitefield and with twenty-nine and a half years at Kinta. She was Teacher of the Year in Haskell County in 1981-1982. Colleen was a member and worker at Kinta First Baptist Church for 48 years. After her love for God and her church, came her family, which she was extremely dedicated. She loved raising flowers and providing homes for birds. She will be missed by all who loved her and knew her. She was an awesome lady! She is preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Margie Bryant; a brother Jerry (Jude) Bryant. Funeral Services will be held Monday, June 27, 2016, 2:00 P.M. at Kinta First Baptist Church with Reverend James Easley officiating. Burial will follow immediately to Sans Bois Cemetery under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
