May 16, 1949 - April 4, 2014

On April 4, 2014, Christopher J. Day passed away peacefully.

Chris was born May 16, 1949 and grew up in Grosse Ile, MI. His parents are Mary E. (Austerberry) Day and the late Raymond G. Day. He lived in Grosse Ile throughout his childhood. Chris was a loving husband and father and is survived by his wife, Anne; his mother, Mary Day; his children, Elizabeth (Josh) Griffin, Madelyn Day, John Day, and Susan (Nico) Gisholt; and his grandchildren, Christopher Day, Elizabeth Gisholt, Lennox Day, Carson Griffin, Carolina Gisholt, and Clare Day. He is also survived by his 4 siblings, Charles (Janet) Day, Maryanne Pitman, Stephanie (Bob) Rankin, and Steven (Beth) Day.

Chris graduated from Grosse Ile High School in 1967, attended Northern Michigan University, and graduated from Central Michigan University. He served in the United States Air Force as a Sergeant with the Civil Engineers Squadron.

Chris worked for Detroit and Northern Savings Bank as the Operations Manager for the Upper Peninsula region of Michigan. For 22 years, he was employed by State Employee's Credit Union/NuUnion Credit Union as Head of Branches and later as Senior Vice President- Marketing. Most recently, he was employed by Maplegrove Property Management Company.

He was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church where he served as a member of the Vestry and as Senior Warden. Chris was a member of Lansing Symphony Orchestra Board of Directors and served as President of the Board. He was President of the Emerald Lakes Condominium Association. He was an active supporter of the community.

He loved spending time with his family and friends, cooking, travel, and sunshine. He approached life with fun and a great sense of humor. He will be remembered for his kindness, warmth, passion for life, his strong faith, and was a great mentor to many people.

Funeral service will be Friday, April 11, 2014 at noon at All Saints Episcopal Church 800 Abbott Rd., East Lansing, MI 48823.

Family will greet guests at a luncheon following the service.

Interment of ashes will be Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 11:30 am at St. James Episcopal Church 25150 E. River Rd., Grosse Ile, MI 48138
