Helen M. Lott, 97, of Freeport passed away Sunday, April 6, 2014, at the Stephenson Nursing Center. Helen was born March 6, 1917, in rural Pearl City, the daughter of Fred and Julia (Peterson) Lott. Helen attended Hershey School. At an early age she went to Rockford and worked at various jobs. She then moved to Freeport where she was employed at Micro Switch and later at Newell. Helen is survived by two grandsons, Dennis Paulsen and Alfred Mauro, Jr.; sister-in-law, Marjorie Lott; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her daughter, Scarlett (Alfred) Mauro and siblings, Charles Lott, Arthur Lott, Alvin Lott, Mabel Lott, Ivy (Paul) Busekros, Florence (Andrew) Weedall, Edna (William) Norton, Clara (Charles) Heidenreich and Margaret Lott. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 10, 2014, at Ebenezer UCC Church near Pearl City, with Pastor Phillip Brown officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. Thursday until time of service. Arrangements are being handled by Offenheiser-Schwarz Funeral Home.
