Karen Sue (Roberson) Fitzgerald, 37, of Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri, formerly of La Porte, Michigan, died Saturday, June 22, 1996 in Gratiot County.

Funeral services are 11, a.m. Thursday, from LaPorte United Methodist Church with Pastor Joy Arthur officiating. Burial will be in Midland Memorial Gardens. Memorials are suggested to the Fitzgerlad Children's Fund in care of Tom Fitzgerald.

Karen was born Aug. 3, 1958 in Saginaw. She married Tom Fitzgerald on July 18, 1981.

Karen, Tom and their family spent most of their life together in the U.S. Army stationed at Karlsruhle, Germany, Fort Campbell, Kentucky, Wahiawa, Hawaii and most recently at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.

She enjoyed bowling, cooking and spending time with her family and was a member of the LaPorte United Methodist Church.

Karen is the daughter of Lyle Roberson and the late Mary (Szarenski) Roberson.

She is survived by her husband, Tom; children, Tonya May, David Lee, and Austin Douglas, all at home; her father, Lyle Robertson and his wife Rita of Midland; nine brothers and sisters, Mary (Gregg) Johns of Midland, Sandy (Howard) Higgins of Ironwood, Deb (Wayne) Rivette of Hemlock, Connie (Dave) Varner of Noblesville, Ind., Ed (Karen) Ribberson of Gallatin, Tenn., Randy (Sue) Roberson, Tom (Sue) Roberson, Jenny (Dick) Gordert and Chris (Lisa) Roberson all of Midland; four brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Debbie (Tom) Gleason of Wentzville, Mo., Keith (Deb) Woodcock of St. Louis, Kevin (Elizabeth) Woodcock of Alma, and Kyle (Diana) Woodcock of St. Louis; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Emma and Elvin Woodcock of St. Louis; her grandmother, Louella Mae Roberson of Midland; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary; and sister, Linda.
