Amy Huguley Ellis, 48, of Fultondale passed away after a courageous fight with cancer on April 6, 2014, and she was surrounded by family and friends. She was born to Pat and Hershel Huguley on September 17, 1965. Amy was in the 1983 graduating class of Fultondale High School, and married Steve Ellis on March 18, 1983. She worked as an Executive Assistant for First Protective Insurance Group and was an active member of Gardendale First Baptist Church. Amy will be remembered for her faith, her wit, and her ability to turn the diagnosis of cancer into an opportunity to inspire others. The family wishes to thank the Bruno Cancer Center for their loving care and friendship. She is survived by her husband, Steve and her daughter, Allie (Ryan) Reed and son, Andrew Ellis. She is also survived by her mother, Pat Huguley Mayes; sisters, Janelle Jennings and Susan Dial; mother and father-in-law, Nora and Lendal McCullar; and nieces and nephews. Amy is preceded in death by her father, Hershel Hugule. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 8:00 PM Tuesday at Gardendale First Baptist Church South Campus. The funeral service will be Wednesday at 1:00 PM at Gardendale First Baptist Church South Campus, followed by a graveside service at Oakwood Memorial Gardens in Gardendale. Memorial donations may be made to Gardendale First Baptist Church Mission Fund in lieu of flowers. The New Gardendale Funeral Home directing.
