John "Jack" Terhune was a native of Passaic, NJ. He moved to Roseville in 1919 where he worked as a locomotive engineer for the Southern Pacific Railroad for 45 years, retiring in 1964.

Jack was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Roseville post of the American Legion, local division of Brothers of Locomotive Engineers, and the Roseville branch of Sons in Retirement.

Jack was survived by his wife Mary Colnar Terhune, son, Clarence Terhune of Ione, daughter-in-law, Ardyce Terhune, and granddaughters, Melanie and Allison.
