Funeral services for Luella Mae Nice of McMinnville will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 19, in the Nazarene Church on the Hill. The Rev. Lon Eckdahl will officiate.

Visitation is scheduled for noon to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 17-18, in the chapel of Macy & Son Funeral Directors in McMinnville. Interment will take place in Sheridan Mennonite Cemetery.

Mrs. Nice died in the Willamette Valley Medical Center in McMinnville on Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2005. She was 84.

Born in Hubbard on Oct. 24, 1921, she was the daughter of Hugh and Lillie (Schrag) Wolfer. The family moved to McMinnville in 1929, then on to Ballston, where she graduated as valedictorian at Ballston School.

After graduation, she moved to Salt Creek.

She married Howard Nice in Sheridan on March 1, 1942. They moved to McMinnville in 1987.

Mrs. Nice enjoyed flower gardening, craft work, cooking and poetry writing. She attended the Nazarene Church on the Hill and was past officer in the Christian Women's Club in Sheridan.

The family said, "She was full of love and always concerned about helping others."

In addition to her husband, she is survived by four sons, Loren and Dennis of McMinnville, Gary of Sheridan and Douglas of Salem; two daughters, Judi Jones of McMinnville and Marlene Kropf of Elkhart, Ind.; five brothers, Lynn and Leslie Wolfer of McMinnville, Clifford and Clayton Wolfer of Sweet Home and Roy Wolfer of Utica, Neb.; two sisters, Blanche Kilmer and Helen Miller of McMinnville; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Hugh Wolfer, and a great-granddaughter.
