Julian Bruce Heppler, 72, of Henderson, died at 6:59 a.m., Monday, April 07, 2014, at The St. Anthony's Hospice Lucy Smith King Care Center.

He was a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, and Newman Baptist Church; Operating Engineers Local 181 for 40 years; Elks Lodge Number 206, and he was a Kentucky Colonel. He was Captain Julian Bruce Heppler, a licensed River Boat Pilot for 55 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lafe and Darah Heppler; brother, James Lewis Heppler, and sister, Virginia Pruden.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Dean Heppler; two sons, Robert Joe Heppler and Steven Glenn Heppler, both of Henderson; one sister, Carole Heppler Mitchell, of Henderson; and one granddaughter, Shala Dean Heppler, of Henderson; three nieces, Sherry Benson, Jodi Pruden, and Dara James; and one nephew, Jack L. Pruden.

Services will be at 2 p.m., Friday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home. The Rev. Ted Burke will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, and until service time Friday at the funeral home.
