William Gordon moved from Maryland, with his father, to Monongalia County, Virginia (now W.Va,) about 1789. It was in Monongalia County that he met and married Mary Carroll. About 1795 he moved, again with his father, to Greene County, PA. where Mary Carroll died in 1814. He then married Mary Cain about 1816. In 1833 he moved to Perry County, Ohio.
