"Jesse S. Harris Dies At Danville Thursday; Burial At Rossville – Jesse S. Harris, 75, a retired farmer of 1111 East Fairchild, Danville, formerly of Rossville, passed away at 9:15 p. m. Thursday, January 12, 1956 at the St. Elizabeth Hospital where he has been a patient three days. Death was attributed to complications.
A native of Rossville, Mr. Harris was born March 22, 1880, son of Henry and Mary Money Harris. He was married to Helen Adams of Rossville January 22, 1913 at Danville, who survives.
Also surviving are three children, Mrs. Mildred Dewey and Myron Harris, both of Rossville, and Mrs. Janet Michaels of Chicago; three sisters, Mrs. Bert Stazell of Lafayette, Ind., and Misses Lydia and Josephine Harris of Decatur; and two grandchildren.
Three sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.
Mr. and Mrs. Harris moved to Danville several years ago when they sold their farm, west of Rossville, and retired.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p. m. Sunday from the Barrick and Sons Funeral Home in Danville. The Rev. Edgar Houldridge of LeRoy, former minister of the Rossville Methodist Church, officiated.
Pallbearers were Clarence Keister, Robert Lusk, S. J. Miller, Dr. Robert Shidler, Tobe Blakney and Charles Umbarger.
Interment was in the Rossville Cemetery."
