Everett J. Smith, Bradenton, Fla., a former area resident, died Monday in Bradenton. He was the son of Everett W. and Esther Lavada (Shaneyfelt) Smith. His wife of 59 years, Barbara Joan Smith, survives. He retired from Kerr Glass in Dunkirk after 37 years of service and had been past president of the Lions Club and the town board in Redkey. Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. John (Sandra) York, Rosedale; a son, Ricky Smith, Muncie; grandson Bob Prater, whom they raised; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. A memorial service is Thursday at 3 p.m. at the Samoset Baptist Church in Bradenton. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Redkey. Marasota Memorial Funeral Home in Bradenton is in charge of the arrangements.
