Dorothy B. Newman, 94, of Solsberry passed away Friday March 28, 2014 at Garden Villa in Bloomington.

Born February 1, 1920 in Greene County, Indiana the daughter of Homer and Alverta (Flake) Abrams.

Dorothy was a homemaker and attended the Pleasant Ridge Church.

Surviving relatives include a daughter, Carol J. Boydston of Solsberry, three sisters, Maxine Todd of Bedford, Esther Norris and Donna Smith both of Bloomfield. She has six grandchildren, Linda, Marsha, Melissa, Mike, Stacey (Dennis) and Brian (Debbie), she has fifteen great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Larkin O. Newman on November 17, 1987; one son Jerry Wade Newman in 1975; five sisters, Jessie Olive Abrams, Grace Carmichael, Anna Goad, Myrtle Bland and Laura Jones, two brothers, Amos Abrams and Homer Eugene Abrams, one granddaughter and her parents.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 P.M. on Thursday and 10 A.M. Friday until the hour of service at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Brother's Jerry Gholson, Eugene Helms and Carl Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at Solsberry Cemetery.

The family wishes any donation be made to the Church or Charity of one's choice.
